What is Translation?
The basic principle of translation is to change a document from one language (the source language) to another language (the target language), while retaining the same meaning and incorporating the nuances arising from the original text. Wherever necessary, the cultural background of the first language should be adapted so that it corresponds to the target language.

Our Project Management
Specialist translators: When a document is received from our customer, we read through the original document, we make sure of the technical or scientific field concerned and then we pass it on to a translator who specializes in that field; a person who can deliver a translation which is faithful to the original text both from the terminological and also from the linguistic point of view.
Pre-check
Before the translation is started, our project management team first of all read right through the original document to pinpoint any doubts there may be about the translation (terminology, the method to be used, etc.) so as to avoid any unexpected problems.
Close contact is maintained with the customer and with the translator during the translation process. This communication is most necessary to ensure that the translation delivered is perfectly in accordance with our high standards.
Our translator team 
Tektran has a team of highly specialized, approved translators who have been working with us for several years.
We pride ourselves on our professional translation services. Our translators translate only into their native language and we use them only for work which falls within the confines of their specialist knowledge - for work where we are certain that they are totally conversant with the field concerned.
These two factors (the target language and the specialization field) are the most important concepts. It is here that we can choose the right translator for the job.
Harmonised Translation
For larger projects, we set up a team of translators who then work closely with our management so as to ensure that the translation is consistent and harmonised as regards terminology, style, titles, page lay-out, etc. The translators are supervised by a Project Manager.
In addition, we can use new translation memory software which makes it easier to achieve consistent vocabulary. All our translation memories are kept strictly up to date and are only passed to translators for one project, on a confidential basis.
Technical and Scientific Translation
A good translator needs to be able to keep up with the latest developments in his or her chosen field by visiting specialist exhibitions and by careful reading of technical and professional journals.
Our Tektran translators take care to develop their knowledge and follow the latest trends in the industrial, technical and scientific worlds in order to be able to produce up-to-the-minute translations, using the latest technical terminology. The same applies to our translators who specialize in the legal, accounting and financial sectors.
Glossaries for each customer
Often, companies have their own in-house technical vocabulary, so in that case we set up technical glossaries for each customer, to ensure that we use the same terms in future translations. Wherever possible we use the same translator for a particular customer
Translators with the right experience
Using qualified people with experience in electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering ensures that our technical translations are completely acceptable to the client. Translators who have first-hand experience in particular scientific fields also form some of our most welcome recruits.
Proof-Reading
There is a close connection between translation and the proof-reading of that translation. In addition to systematically proof-reading our own translations (which is included in the price of the translation), Tektran also offers a proof-reading service for documents which have been translated elsewhere.
This service is quite separate from our usual translation service and is invoiced by the word or by the hour. Please contact us for a detailed quotation.
Sworn Translation
In many countries, a sworn translation (by a legal expert translator who is appointed by the Court) is required for official court formalities.

The Internet has become the universal data base for companies and also for private individuals. It is a wonderful means for commercial companies to make themselves known to prospective customers in both their own country and in other countries in the world.
That is why Tektran established its Aftrans localization subsidiary. Aftrans is dedicated to translating and localizing web sites.
For localization, we do not merely translate your website into the language you require, we also change certain aspects of the translated text so that a person reading the translated website in the country concerned feels that he or she is at home with the language and the nuances which are local to that country.
In certain circumstances, research can also be carried out so as to ensure that the localized website is in conformity with the laws in the country concerned.
